We started The Mudra Journal because nobody ever sat us down and explained money properly.
Not the textbook version. Not the WhatsApp-forward version. The real version — the one where you’re 24, you’ve just gotten your first salary, and you have absolutely no idea what to do with it beyond opening a savings your parents told you to open.

WRITTEN FOR: ANYONE WHO’S EVER NODDED ALONG IN A FINANCE CONVERSATION WITHOUT UNDERSTANDING A WORD OF IT
Most personal finance content in India comes in two flavors — dry, jargon-heavy textbook language written for people who already know what a “systematic investment plan” means, or loud, urgent finfluencer content selling you the next hot stock tip. Neither one is written for the person just trying to figure out how to save, spend, and think about money without panic.
We wanted something else. Something quieter.
WHAT WE ACTUALLY WRITE ABOUT
The Mudra Journal is a minimalist finance and lifestyle publication for Indian readers in their 20s and 30s — the first-job, first-salary, first-SIP generation. We write about money the way we’d explain it to a close friend: plainly, without condescension, and without pretending there’s a shortcut.
Our content lives across four ideas we keep coming back to:
Beginners Vault / ज्ञान — the fundamentals nobody taught you. What a mutual fund actually is. How your payslip works. Why an emergency fund matters more than it sounds like it does.
The Journal — reflective, personal essays on how our generation actually relates to money — the anxiety, the quiet comparisons, the shame nobody names out loud.
The India Series / भारत — the systems and context that are uniquely ours. PPF versus NPS. The wedding economy. What changed when everyone started using UPI.
Old Money / धन — not wealth as flexing, but wealth as restraint. What our grandparents understood about money that got lost somewhere between their generation and ours.
We’re not selling urgency. We’re not telling you to get rich by 30. We’re just trying to make money make sense.
WHO WE’RE WRITTEN FOR
If you’ve ever felt behind because everyone else seems to already understand investing, insurance, and taxes — this is written for you. If you grew up watching your parents manage money quietly and never explain how — this is written for you too.
We assume you’re smart. We just assume nobody’s explained this to you yet in a way that stuck.
A NOTE ON WHAT WE’RE NOT
We are not a SEBI-registered investment adviser or research analyst, and nothing on this site is investment advice. We write to educate and simplify — not to tell you what to buy. Where we reference funds, ratings, or markets, we’re explaining how to think, not what to do. Always consult a licensed professional for decisions specific to your own money.
